About me / About me

For me, photography is both a passion and a haven of peace

Philip Ian Pearce

British-born photographer Philip Ian Pearce has been working in the field of photography since the 1980s. The industrial engineer has spent decades in various management positions in the industrial plant construction sector, an experience that profoundly influenced his photographic work.

His artistic work, influenced by Pop Art and Abstract Expressionism, reflects his engagement with societal structural change through his unique style of analytical expressionism. His emotive interpretation of industry, technology, and labor invites the viewer to look beyond obvious themes and discover new emotional meanings in his forward-looking art.

In addition to a solid self-taught education, he has further developed his expertise at the Cologne School of Photography and with photographers such as Prof. Harald Mante, Jürgen Wassmuth (DGPh), and Mark Robertz.

In the winter semester of 2021, Philip Ian Pearce accepted a teaching position at the Chair of Digital Arts and Cultural Mediation at the private Witten/Herdecke University.
